88 The Banner-Press, David City, Nebr. September 19, 1996 PEOPLE SCOTT LEU AND JOAN ZIMA Leu and Zima engaged to be married October 26 Joan Zima and Scott Leu, both of Omaha, are announcing their engagement. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Zima of David City.

The future groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Leu of Omaha. Miss Zima is a graduate of Kearney State College and is currently employed at Harry A. Koch Company in Omaha.

Her fiance is a self-employed carpenter. An Oct. 26 wedding is planned at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Ralston. MARY AND ELLIS PROSKOVEC Proskovecs to celebrate golden anniversary celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.

at St. Anthony's Parish Hall in Bruno. The event will be hosted by their children, the Gary and Linda Proskovec family of Lincoln and Ellis and Mary Proskovec will the Marilyn and Gary Aerts family of Malcolm. Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend. The couple request no gifts.

The Proskovecs were married Oct. 1, 1946, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard1 by Monsignor Alois J. Klein. Sedlacek family reunion Sept. 8 The annual Sedlacek reunion was held on Sept.

8 at the Senior Center in David City. A potluck noon meal was served. Those attending were: Vlasta Krivanek of Abie; Zdenka Uridil and Art Wilke of Chadron; Duane Kantor, Candace Schaefer and Trenton, all of Columbus; Ed Kratky, Louis Sedlacek, Clara Kaspar, Zdenka Urban, all of Prague; Zdenka Liska of Crete; James and Marcia Liska, Deb and Lyle Sedlacek, Tom and Emily Kaspar, Carol Lee Svoboda, Rusty and Pam Sedlacek, Jamie and Jessika, Ben and Nadine Rerucha, Lori Clement, Emily and Nathan, all of Lincoln; Don and Helen Horacek, Shorty Novak and Ernest Andel, all of Brainard; Carrie and Ray Placek of Columbus, and Richard and Colette Marushak of Auxvasse, Mo. Also present were: James Kaspar of Malmo; Laverna Skarka of Rogers; Dean and Darlene McVicker of Bellevue; Georgianne Malousek, Lyle and Leona Torrens, Dennis Novak and Milroy Kantor, all of Wahoo; Earl and Gladys Sedlacek, Michael and Karen Ostry and family, and Miles and Arlene Andel and Carmen, all of Bruno; Leona and Bob Braasch of York; Nancy Club News David City Chapter DAR The David City Chapter DAR met at the Sunshine Court on Sept. 12 for a noon luncheon, with 14 members and one guest in attendance.

Regent Ellen Oppliger presided at the meeting. The president general's message was read by Margaret Petsch. An article, "Thoughts on the Election," was given by Carol Adkinson. Petsch was in charge of the program on the Constitution. Margaret Tooker served a as hostess.

The next meeting will be Oct. 10 at the Sunshine Court. Alma Chapter Order Eastern Star Members of Alma Chapter met. at the Masonic Hall on Sept. 11 with Worthy Matron Pamela Schmid presiding.

Donations were made to the Playground Equipment Fund in David City and to the International Temple State Dining Room Ceiling Art Project in Washington, D.C. Mike Jones, director of the Center Benefit Golf Tournament held on Aug. 25 and sponsored by the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star; reported approximately $2,800 raised for the Youth Center. Several members reported on their visit to Harmony Chapter No. 13 Order of Eastern Star at Columbus on Sept.

3 when Alma Chapter was honored. The Certificate of Appreciation received from the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Nebraska providing a scholarship to a partici-, pant in the 2nd Annual Masonic All-Star Marching Band Clinic was displayed. Pamela Schmid provided refreshments following the meeting. Seminarian Club The monthly meeting of the Seminarian Club was held at the Sunshine Court on Sept-9 with 20 members in attendance. Bea Polak led the Flag Salute, and prayers were led by Josephine Sloup, with special intentions for good crop weather.

Members were encouraged to take part in a rosary crusade in anticipation of the November election. Father Langhorst, pastor. of St. John's Church in Weston, asked that members help collect "Our Family" brand labels. A donation to the burse was given in memory of Ted Aerts by Maxine.

Members will recite the rosary for deceased member Anna Besch, who was a lifelong member. Study Club given by Rose Koziol featured articles on the Sorrows of Mary whose feast day is Sept. 15. She noted that the success of living is to do the most with the moment at hand and through prayer obtain well-being and comfort. A social hour was held with Mayme Gray winning the special prize.

Hostess Helen Litty served lunch. ADOLPH AND Catholic Daughters of the Americas Members of Court San Salvador Catholic Daughters of the Americas attended the Burger Bash hosted by the Knights of Columbus members preceding the meeting. Following the installation of the Knights' officers, the Daughters went to the lower level where they attended the meeting conducted by Regent Arlene Fricke. Lucille Brannen, renewal chairman, read, "Consecrate the Family to the Immaculate Heart of Mary." The program chairman announced that the Tuesday, Oct. 3, meeting will be hosted by Chairmen Lucille Rerucha and Sharon Smith and their committee.

Lorene Woita reported on the Villa bingo. Sunday, Oct. 20, is CDA Sunday. Members were asked to save Our Family labels for Father Rand Langhorst for the Weston Catholic School. The court voted to serve lunch at the Joe Hanus auction sale.

Members will be asked to work or donate food. "Respect for Life" begins on Oct. 6. The regent reviewed the work of the committees for the prospective new members and the vice regent reviewed the budget. The regent read the letter from national headquarters.

Chaplain Leo Kosch spoke to the group about the power -of prayer, urged all members to make a retreat and to support all young women in making decisions. Sally Bartunek received the a attendance prize. A social hour followed. Butler County Right to Life Butler County Right to Life met on Monday, Sept. 9, at the Open Bible Evangelical Free Church.

Thank you was expressed to the Teens for Life for their work on a recent literature drop protesting the partial birth abortion ban veto by President Clinton. Appreciation was expressed to Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Rittenburg of rural Brainard for the donation of their 10. 10 self-supporting tent.

The books, "What Inside? Baby," and "Where Do Babies Come From," have arrived and will be donated to area libraries. Thank yous were read from Columbus Right to Life and from Jim and Dr. Jo Witter. Margaret Fox reported on the successful postcard response to Bill HR1833, the partial birth abortion ban bill, which was vetoed by President Clinton. Millions of postcards were sent to the White House asking the congressmen to override the presidential veto.

Life Chain will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Participants should meet at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 1:30 p.m. Buses will provide a shuttle to and from areas along Highway 15. Refreshments will be served following the Life Chain at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

The next meeting will be Monday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the Open Bible Evangelical Free Church. MARGARET REZAC Rezacs to celebrate 60th wedding anniversary Adolph and Margaret (Meduna) Rezac of Valparaiso will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 29 with a family gathering and a card shower.

Cards may be sent to them at P.O, Box 2, Valparaiso, NE 68065. The Rezacs were married Sept. STEPHANIE GREGURAS Greguras and plans for fall Stephanie A. Greguras, and Justin W. Ek, both of McPherson, are making plans for an Oct.

12 wedding at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Seward. Parents of the couple are Ed and Cathy Greguras of Seward, Rita Ek and Steven Ek of Kansas. Bougger named TIM BOUGGER Tim Bougger was named Student Rotarian of the Week at last Thursday's noon luncheon of the David City Rotary Club. He is a senior at East Butler High School and the son of Fred and Sue Bougger of Brainard.

Bougger has participated and lettered in track and cross country and was selected to Academic AllState in both. He is a member of National Honor Society, Letterclub and participated in band two years. He participated in the ElmwoodMurdock Quiz Bowl tournament and the Nebraska State Fair Quiz Bowl. Academically, he has received the Top G.P.A. Award of his class Born at the Butler County Health Care Center: BUNTGEN--To Bill and Lisa (Gans) Buntgen of David City, a son, Derek James, born Sept.

KOZISEK--To Jim and Cheryl Kozisek of Lincoln, a daughter, Kinsey Rose, born Sept. 11 at St. AND JUSTIN EK Ek make wedding Greguras is a 1996 graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln and received a bachelor of administration degree.

She is employed at Alliance Insurance Company in McPherson, Kan. Ek is currently employed at Precision Industries in McPherson, Kan. Student Rotarian for three years. He has been on the A honor roll throughout high school. Other awards include the Bausch and Lomb Science Award, Three-year Computer Science Award, Outstanding Artistic Ability Award (2 years), Top English Award (3 years) and Spanish 1 Award.

Bougger, has been listed in "Who's Who Among American High School Students" for three years and listed in the "United States Achievement Academy" in which he also received a scholarship. He entered the Nebraska Jr. Duck Stamp Contest in which he won "Best of Show." In the national contest he received third place and will be recognized at a banquet in Washington, D.C., in October. He has displayed art at the Burkholder Project in Lincoln and will have an exhibit. at Lincoln Station.

He also exhibited at the C- 8 art exhibit and the Hruska Public Library dedication. At the Butler County Fair, Bougger was the winner of "Best of Show" in youth two art for four years. Because of his art accomplishments, Bougger was featured in an article in the Omaha World- Herald in August. He is a member of Holy Trinity Church in Brainard and the Guys and Gals 4-H Club. His future plans are to attend college and possibly pursue a career in art.

Schools' annual reunion held The annual reunion of the schools of Summit Township and Fairview School was held Sunday afternoon, Sept. 8, at- David City with Ruth Haney as hostess.

Visiting, viewing old school pictures, and games furnished the afternoon entertainment, followed by a 5 p.m. carry-in lunch. Ice cream and cake were served. Fern Gustad made a decorated cake for the 20th year of the reunion. 28, 1936, at St.
