Sit of 6A The Schuyler Sun Lana Longacre Sisters join talents in Two Schuyler natives, Lana K. Longacre (formerly Lana Miller) and Judith M. Martin (formerly Judy Miller), daughters of Esther Zelenda and the late Clarence Miller, have joined together for a project in which each woman applies the talents they have developed since they graduated from Schuyler High School. Judy, the oldest of the five Miller daughters, recently founded a training business in Jeffersonville, and has partnered with Cheryl Corriveau, a meeting planner from Orlando, Fla. Together they are producing a conference for professional women in Callaway Gardens, a resort, in Pine Mountain, Ga.

Judy, who planned the program, attempted to focus on issues both professional and personal that professional women face in their work and home lives. One of those issues was creating pleasant surroundings in the workplace. Seeking a speaker to address the topic, Judy turned to her sister, who has for 10 years decorated homes and offices in Omaha and across the U.S. Throughout the years, Lana has developed an interior decorating philosophy which was practical and simple to learn a perfect education session for 300 women executives whose challenges include keeping an updated and professional-looking office. Naming her philosophy "Connect the Dots," she will share with her audience how to combine colors, patterns and textures to express the owners' styles while using what they already have.

Her session will appeal to women who have control over only their desktops or their entire office space. Graduating from high school in 1966, Lana is an award-winning designer. In 1997, she received National Kitchen and Bath Association's award for a kitchen design she created in a prestigious Omaha home. The story and photographs of her work were published in "American Homestyle and Gardening" magazine. Educated in textiles and fashion merchandising, Lana began her career in retail store display and later created two clothing shops in Omaha and Connecticut.
