This will help prevent a burn, and it will also help prevent aging and wrinkling of the skin. Many products such as lotions and creams are available with sunscreens in them. There are also lip guards with sunscreens to protect the lips. There are: a number of chemical products used as sunscreens. They include PABA.

oxybenzone. dioxybenzone, cinoxate, menthyl anthranilate and digalloyl trioleate. Some individuals will find that they are allergic to some of these chemicals. In that case, they will have to choose a product that does not contain the allergic ingredient. When choosing a product for sunscreen.

observe the number rating system. As the numbers get higher. the protection is greater. For someone who is fair skinned and has not had much exposure to sun. a higher number around 8 may be needed to prevent a burn.

To protect sensitive areas around the nose and face it is best to choose a product with a very high number such as 14. This will stop all burning. Many products will need to be applied before exposure and reapplied frequently if you are in water. Paul A. Rupprecht, Pharmacist, Memorial Hospital, Inc.
