stopped on his return from Omaha for a short visit at. the J. R. Henry home Tuesday morning. Marion S.

White drove in from Knox county Friday night and visited over the week end with his parents, Rev. and Mrs. W. White. Mr.

and Mrs. Harry McNamara accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Lytle Chilcotte of Fremont spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.

Clarence Pierre at Decatur. Albin Peltz, Geo. McKenzie, Emerson and Edward Smatlan, and Chas. Mastny and John Peltz of Linwood returned Friday from Minnesota where they had spent two weeks fishing. Mr.

and Mrs. Elmer Beechler of Omaha stopped enroute to Columbus for a short visit at the H. J. Tully home Wednesday. Mrs.

Tully and Mrs. Beechler were classmates at Boyle's college. Russell Salak attended the mail carriers convention held at Norfolk Sunday. Russell reports a good crowd in attendance, altho there was much disappointment when Congressman Karl Stefan, who was to be one of the speakers, was unable to be present. Mr.

and Mrs. Wm. Storts, Mrs. Eli Hershiser and Andrew Clark of O'Neil were visitors at the home of C. L.

and G. W. Jones from Saturday until Monday. Mr. Storts and Mrs.

Hershiser are brother and sister of Mrs. Chas. Jones and Mr. Clark is an old friend of the family. Howard Baker of Fremont and Miss June Baker, son and daughter of Fredrick Baker of Schuyler, left Monday evening on a 4,000 mile motor trip.

Miss Baker, who has been visiting the past month with her father, returned to Rochelle, N. where she had been employed in a hospital. They will also visit New York City and many other points of interest. Miss Baker may return to Schuyler with her father. Mr.

and Mrs. Frank Higgins spent Saturday in Omaha. Mrs. F. Seehase and son and Mrs.

A. L. Dixon spent Saturday in Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs.

Daricek returned to CrefRudy ton Monday evening, where he is employed at the Lewis Radio and Refrigeration service. Rudy spent two weeks at home recovering from a throat infection.

Schrank, Owner. Mr. and Mrs. Ray N. Kent of Omaha were over Monday visitors with Mr.

and Mrs. H. A. McCormick, Sr. and other relatives in Schuyler.

They had been on a short vacation visit with old friends at Osceola, returning to Omaha Tuesday evening. The pupils of Wilson high school defeated the Langley high I students in two pugball games on Friday evening. Another game will be played later on to decide the winner. Miss Loretta Dowd is the teacher at Wilson and Miss Kennedy is teaching in Langley high. Dressmaking for particular people.

Donelson entertained a number of children at a party on Saturday afternoon for her ter, Barbara Joan, who celebrated her eighth birthday. Games were played, after which a delicious lunch was served. Barbara Joan received many lovely gifts. Those present were Marilyn Kutin, Betty Higgins, Marcella Kunkle, Marie Vavra, Audrey Hammond and Roberta Donelson and Miss Marilyn Adlir of Omaha. Miss Erman Jones entertained at a 7 o'clock dinner party Saturday evening honoring Howard Eacker on his birthday anniversary.

The color scheme of pink and silver was carried out in the table decorations. The centerpiece was a birthday cake decorated in pink and white. Silver tapers were used at each end of the table. Following the dinner the guests drove to Columbus, where I they spent the evening. Vern Harmon of Omaha was an out of town guest.

The Catholic Study club will meet at the home of Mrs. B. F. Farrell Wednesday, Oct. 2nd.

Mr. and Mrs. Clement Foust cf Scribner spent Saturday ard Sunday with his father, Henry Foust. Fred Wigington and Jos. Hobza drove to Omaha Saturday.

Mr. Hobza drove out a new Chevrolet. Bob Shonka was in Omaha Monday and Tuesday consulting a doctor in regard to nose and ear trouble. Mr. and Mrs.

Farrell was a business caller in Columbus Saturday. Mr. and of Osceola Betty Irish Sunday at Mrs. Paul Schmocker and Robert Ellidge and of Columbus spent the Emil Cech home. Miss Marcella Coufal left for Lincoln last week, where she will take up her duties as a stenographer in a trust company there.

Clark returned to Omaha Saturday, after spending two weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Lyden. From Omaha she will return to her home in Washington, D. C.

Mrs. J. R. Henry enterta ned the bridge club at her home Tuesday afternoon. After a dessert luncheon the members spent the afternoon at contract.

Mrs. J. Pokorny was a guest of the club. Miss Helen Krivohlavek, who is attending Boyle's business college in Omaha, spent the week end in Schuyler. Another former restdent of Schuyler, Miss Kathleen Perry, is also attending Boyle's college.

Miss Sylvia Kemp entertained her Presbyterian Sunday school class consisting of twelve members at a picnie supper at the pavilion Thursday evening. All members of the class were present and a good time is reported. Mr. and Mrs. E.

E. Ruzicka, son in law and daughter of Dr. and Mrs. L. H.

Sixta, who are vacationing on the west coast, have recently been at Vancouver and will go from there to SanFrancisco and from there by boat to Los Angeles. In letters to home folks they report a most delightful tour of the coast country. Mrs. A. Z.

Vondracek ertertained the members of the Willing to Learn Extension club at her home Tuesday afternoon. Officers for the year are: president, Mrs. A. Z. Vondracek, and seeretary surer, Mrs.

Joe Russell. Mrs. Earl Vondracek and Mrs. Chas. Hoops are the leaders.

Refreshments were served at the close of the afternoon to about 15 members. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schlestede visited with the Walter Miller famlily near Creston Sunday evening.

Mrs. Kate Grady and daughter Celia have moved to Linwood, where Celia has opened a beauty parlor. Mrs. F. G.

Morss entertained Mrs. Louis Keene, Mrs. Harold Keene and Misses Pearl Albertson and Ellen Howard all of Fremont at lunch Tuesday. Fred Kolouch left Wednesday morning for Minneapolis where he will continue his studies at the university of Minnesota in the medical department. Mr.

and Mrs. Anton Krov and Joe and Rhodie of Abie accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schelsted where they inspected the Columof near Richland to Platte Center, bus power project.

Judge W. I. Allen was at Omaha Monday and Tuesday in another hearing of the Wacha compensation trial, which was held before a judge of the district court. No decision was made in the case at this time. Accompanying Mr.

Allen to Omaha were Mrs. Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Higgins, Mr. and Mrs.

Otto Wacha and the former's mother and John Parolek. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rogers and little son Wayne Paul of near Lyons, were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs.

L. F. McCormick. Mrs. Rogers is a former classmate of Mrs.

McCormick at Wayne State college, Mr. Rogers is a younger member of one of the oldest farm families in Burt county, whose father resided on a farm adjoining that of the parents of Mrs. H. A. McCormick, Sr.
