Bump, arrived here Wednesday from the Black Hills, where he has been since March last. Mr. Bump is wild over the richness of that country, aod says that a few days before he left for home, several of the richest silver ledges in the world have been discovered between Custar City and Dead- ood. Some parties made there in eight months from $50,000 to $300,000, and that as soon as this trouble is settled explorations will be commence 1 which will develop the untold millions. Mr.

Bump will return to that cmntry as soon as his affairs caa be arranged at borne. The Platte County Fair is more than a luecwi iw every department; Major Burgess, ct. on the irt of the Government, and tho farmers above re futred to, "were null and void," and, using tho Words of tho speaker, that if they (the farmers) cultivated the land, they would do so at their own risk, for the property might be appraised and sold at any time." Iu view of these fids tho farmers began operation of farming. Now it ueeini that some in a chinery, has been removed from the premises, and oue Jake Shotwcll, dressed in religious garb, and seeking to throw IhO fraud he, himself, was guilty of on others, as can bo provcii, sent fur tho officers and had the parties sires ted for "conspiracy against tho Government." Some of tho farmers, who were not to he driven in'o matters which they thought and knew to bo illcgnl, refused to give half of the grain they had labored for all summer to such an onprinciple scoundrel as Shot well. Had tho S.

officers put a suitable man there, or had cotno themselves and recn to tho mutter, all would have been well, for there is not one of them but what will do the square thing and nothing liiore. As far as tlltj nlitcliincry and other thiligs concerned, let them arrest Shotwell, Draper, et. and bring up the people of the reservation to a fair and impartial trial, and we have not a shadow of doubt but sime fo irfttl revelations will bo made. The officers, in their conduct Wednesday, were anything but civil and gentlo manly, calling some of tho ladies, who were under cxcitemo'it, liars, Ao. Let us see that tho future has no more such men to rule tho poor, and let tho proper authoritcs look into this mat tcr and put honest men to do their bus! ness.

More by and by, ClIABITTj A very pleasant party enjoyed themselves at tho Opera House on Thursday night at a ball, the firit of the sermon, under the management of Mr. Fred. Matthews and Mr. John J. Rickly.

Editok Eka. Dear Sib For the benefit of future conventions that may be held in this county, and to show to the members of the late Democratic Couuty Convention, as well as to the people at large, we, the undersigned voters of Pleasant Valley Precinct, beg leave to state that at four o'clock in the afternoon, the day the caucus was held, we voted solid for John Walker as delegate, and that there was not a voter present at the caucus at that hour that did not (tipper Mr. Walker, and any one nuking a statement to the contrary utters that which is basely untrue. There are a feir persons ou Shell Creek, iu this precinct, who, like their nondescript leader in Columbus, delight in disrupting, arid would like to destroy, the harmony existing in our party. We are sorry Mr.

Walker, through chicanery, was deprived of his legitimate right, simply besaure hs could not be used by the great Michael Angela of Columbus, who would fain have driven us, like hogs to his market to prove the legality of bis credentials. Though Mr Walker and his friends wcrs victimized they were not idle, as the seqtiel to tie convention fully de monstrates. Jas. Mills loole, Adam Classco, Wm. Si.oane, Chas.
