THE DUNCAN TELEGRAM out doors Monday for the first time DUNCAN DOINGS. at the Methodist church on Christmas eve. They will also have a tree. A large crowd enjoyed the box social at district 44 last Saturday evening. The pupils of the primary department gave a delightful program last Friday afternoon.

The room was crowded with friends and parents of the children. The most interesting to the children was the Christmas tree, which was lighted with many candles. R. D. Smith and family autoed to Schuyler last Saturday.

Mrs. L. Kern and daughter, Mabel, were in Columbus shopping Monday. Mary Jahn was in Columbus Monday having some dental work done. Arthur Olcott came home last Friday to spend Christmas with his parents.

Nebraska Duncan Cornelius O. Linaberry, after a long illness, died Saturday morning at his home in the north part of town. He was afflicted with Brlgnt's disease.

Mr. Linaberry was the father of Frank Linaberry and Robert Linaberry, Union Pacific railroad men who are well known in Columbus. Frank is a passenger conductor on the main line. Mrs. Frank Fischer and little daughter, Frances, left Saturday for Lincoln to visit at the heme of Mrs.

Westfall, a sister of Mrs. Fischer. They were accompanied by Miss Celia Fischer, who returned Sunday evening. Mrs. Fischer will remain for a longer visit.

Many Humphrey people attended the funeral of the late Leonard Maler, at Tarnov. Mrs. Frank Flakus entertained the kensington club last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs.

Cauley made a business trip to Cornlea Monday. Henry, Barney and Matt Brockhaus were guests at the home of F. Vieth Thursday evening. Joseph Smith had for guests one evening recently Peter and. Charles Foltz, Mike Fischer and Ed Miller.

Thanking You I Duncan, Nebraska Mrs. George Tladen, Fred and Minnie Iiemp were guests at the Rudolph Oppliger home hist Sunday afternoon. While out baling hay east of Monroe last Friday afternoon, Fred Lemp figured In an accident that left him with a broken arm. He attempted to throw the belt off, and his arm in some manner got caught between the belt and the engine pulley. A doctor was summoned from Monroe to set the fracture, and Fred doesn't intend to let the injury keep him from working.

Miss Lillian Blaser returned last Friday from Columbus to spend the merry Christmas and happy new year season at home. After the first of the year she will return to Columbus to finish her course in dressmaking. Jacob Eiseman is building a new cattle shed to protect his stock from the rigors of winter. John Kummer attended the party given at the Albert Husman home last Saturday evening. Although it was bitterly cold and John had a long trip, he felt that the evening's pleasure made it well worth wiiiie.

Hector Blaser, Sam W. Blaser and Hans Boss spent the afternoon at the John Blaser home last Sunday. A few of the Oruetli live-wires attended a dancing party in Monroe one evening last week. Samuel W. Blaser and Herman Lemp spent one evening last week at the George Tladen home.

The sky over toward Monroe looked bright as day Wednesday night of last week, the flames from the Hord elevator fire lighting it up. C. L. Kahl has sold his farm, but has made arrangements to rent it for another year. Sam Imhoff and George Tiaden were among the Duncan visitors last Saturday.

The snow storm last Sunday made it seem for awhile that the north pole was approaching close to Gruetli. About 12 inches of snow fell here in ten hours. Ernest Hurner is now keeping house for himself on a farm near Gardner. Ho says the continued cold weather is rather hard on his coal pile and pock-etbook. John Blaser, and Hector Blaser, were in Columbus laBt Friday.

6 Dave Joseph has been on the sick list again this week, having had a relapse after convalescing from his recent spell. Dr. Cauley, of Humphrey, and his nephew, Robert liewis, of Humphrey, were here to see him Sunday. T. H.

Jones left Saturday for Wayne to spend the holidays with relatives. Evan Jones is here from Wayne visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Jones. An interesting progrnm was given at the Falrview school Thursday evening of last week.

After the program, a box social was held. The net proceeds amounted to Miss Effie Volght is the teacher. The Postville school, presided over by Miss Gwendolyn James as teacher, Is closed for a week of Christmas vacation.
